Nutrition Information

At Sleek and Slender, we take nutrition to be the basis of our weight loss and fitness program. We encourage and advise the client on how best to get the best out of what they eat while keeping what they like to eat on the menu.

Contrary to what lots of experts and nutritionists believe, it is not how much you eat but what you eat. We encourage the client to work out while keeping a close tab on their lifestyle.

The staff will provide you with relevant information, advice on nutrition, supplements and the correct way to diet! We also have numerous books, articles and magazines for you to peruse through and self-educate.

We give our clients top-of-the-shelf tips and guidance at no fee for those who wish to consult. However, the books (each at UGX 35,000) and material about nutrition are on sale.

The Dieter’s Prayer

The Lord is my Shepherd.
He makes me lie down and do press-ups.

He gives me sodium-free brown bread.
He restores my waistline and leadeth me past the fridge
and the biscuit tin for my own sake.

He maketh me partake of green beans, cabbage and
Cauliflower instead of pot noodles and pies.

He leadeth me past the chips shop and the doughnut stalls.

Yea, though I pass through the toffee shop, I shall not be
tempted. For thou art with me.

Thou preparest a diet in the diet in the face of my enemies.

Thou annointest my salad with low-calorie dressing. My
cup shall overflow.

Surely whole-meal bread and fat-free spread will follow me
all my life.

I shall not eat crisps, chocolate, biscuits or anything
fattening. And I will endure the pains of hunger forever
and ever, Amen.

Weight Issues!

One friend complained to another, “All my husband and I do is fight. I have been so upset, I have lost 20 pounds!”

If it is this bad, why don’t you leave him? Asked the second friend?

She replied, “I would like to lose another 15 pounds first!”

FOOD AND HEALTH – THE VITAL LINK

It seems almost absurd to state that you need food to live. The body has a very potent built-in alarm signal – hunger – to tell you when your supply of food, the ‘fuel for the body’, is low and thereby ensure that you are never in serious danger of forgetting to eat. One of the most fascinating aspects of the way the body works is that this alarm signal is also choosy and at times asks for specific supplies, for example, sweet things when your body sugar is low or water when you are thirsty.

What many people fail to recognize is that their bodies have more than just one signal. Tiredness, looking and feeling run down, aches and pains, stress, even chronic disease – all these can be indications of a diet that is lacking nutrition. But not all of these signals are instant or ‘colour-coded’ for easy reference, and that is the heart of the problem. Since no one can see or experience the results of a bad diet immediately (often the effects take years to develop), few people realize just how closely bodily health is linked to what they eat, how much they eat and how often they eat. You are what you eat, and the food you eat affects the way you feel and the way you look all through your life.
